Bump Keys – Discover why your door locks are probably useless

Last weekend I discovered something called a bump key.

Bump Keys (or 999 keys) are widely known in Europe, and there was an article about them in Newsweek recently.

A bump key is easily made, and allows an unskilled person to easily open most domestic and office locks.

I thought it was a joke at first – but some research on the internet quickly made me realise that this was fair dinkum. I’ve since proved that they are easy to use by opening my own deadlocks, and those of my sister.

I’ve spent waaay to much time over the last few days researching this. Amazingly, it appears that Australian locksmiths, Industry bodies, Insurance companies, and even the police are not aware of them.
