Google has just released a guide that tells you what to do if you want to improve the chances of people finding your website.
Almost Everyone these days has a story to tell (or an E-Book to sell) about "How to optimise your site for the search engines".
Unless you know what you are doing, it can be a waste of time – or even harmful – to blindly follow advice which could be outdated or harmful.
A very good basic guide to what you should be doing to your web pages to make them rank higher in search engines has just been released by Google. (more…)

Over the last couple of days, the volume of mail passing through our mail server has fallen dramatically.
The reason for this was that one Californian ISP – McColo – has been shut down.
This rogue ISP was the host for a large variety of spammers and hackers.
It’s hard to believe that one ISP could have so much impact, and be the provider of so much frustration to the world’s internet users.
Here’s more info

If you ever click on links to view YouTube movies, beware of the latest trick by hackers.
If you are sent an email asking you to go to YouTube to see a movie, be careful. You may be sent to a web page that looks just like YouTube, which tells you to click on a link to install some upgraded software before you can view the movie.
The page is a fake, and if you click on the upgrade link you’ll get something nasty installed onto your computer.
If you’re aware, you’ll see that the address in the browser bar is not a normal YouTube address.
Be careful. The criminals out there are getting more and more devious. And internet users seem to be getting more and more careless.

I have received several emails (supposedly from Network Solutions) today telling me that my domain name has expired, together with some garbage about logging in to claim some money from resale and transfer of the domain name..
THIS IS A FAKE. Do NOT click on the link and provide any login details.
If you do, you could end up losing control of any domains that you have registered at Network Solutions. (more…)
